General Conference

The first weekend in October is what Latter-day Saints call "Conference Weekend" and we listen to the Prophet of our church, his counselors and the Quorum of the 12 Apostles speak to us. We believe the counsel comes from God and is spoken to us by inspired church leaders. Whether it be topics such as avoiding sin or becoming better parents, each talk can touch a person's life differently although hearing the same message. We spend the 4 2-hour blocks watching the television and enjoying the company of those around us while listening to these inspired leaders, called by God.

Usually Chayse and I like to watch it with family members to also promote discussion after each session and what better weekend than this to try an adventure with our new baby girl, just 5 1/2 weeks old! Chayse took work off on Friday so we could leave Thursday night to head to his grandparent's house just south of Salt Lake City, about a 4 hour drive. It turned into a 4 1/2 hour drive because of construction, but that was alright. On Thursday, Lux had decided she was too big for naps and we just had a rough day! NOTHING got done. The only thing I wanted to do was pack. Nope! Couldn't do that! She was a little stinker, but it did pay off for the car ride to SLC. I fed her at 6pm, expecting another feeding between 8 & 9. NOPE! She slept the entire way!!! We had to pack after she finished eating and then pick up some food because we had nothing in the fridge. Really. I was just eating cereal all day. So we got her in the car around 6:30, got the food and was on the road by 7. We pulled into their driveway at 11:30 and she started to make a few noises. WOW! She was asleep for 5 hours, her longest stretch yet! She has been getting to 4 1/2 while at night, typically 4, but I am very proud of my precious little girl for sleeping the entire ride to Grandpa and Grandma Myers' house!!!

We had a wonderful time relaxing and letting other people help watch Lux. That was very nice! I also was able to meet up with 2 great friends from high school for breakfast on Saturday morning. It was sooo great to see their faces since that's a rarity. They got to hold Lux and we just chatted about general things. Loved seeing my friends!

Chatting with Great Grandma. Really. This is when she started to babble with us!

She didn't seem to mind!!!
It was a great weekend full of inspirational talks, chatting with friends and enjoyable conversations with part of the Myers' family. We can't wait to go back up and visit.
