Florida in July!

Right now blogger won't let me upload any photos, so those will have to wait. I wanted to write some things about our trip this summer to Florida with my side of the family before I completely forget!!

We went to Sandestin July 25-31. And since Utah celebrates Pioneer day on the 24th...we had that day off as well! We headed down to Vegas on the 24th and spent some time down there. Met up with my college roommate and European travel partner, Grace and her hubby Will! What better place to go than Cheesecake Factory! YUMM! After dinner we headed back to their place to play a game. Lux loved being there and enjoyed playing with the toys Grace has from her job. The night quickly sped by and we had to head back to the hotel room since we had a nice 7 am flight the next morning.

Lux fell asleep in the car, but since the lights are slightly bright in the casino, she woke up as soon as we set foot inside. She must have been so mesmorized because it took a looong time for her to fall asleep!! We had her sleep between us and she kept flipping, flopping and kicking for at least 45 minutes. I guess we should have opted to rent the pack-n-play from the casino but we were too cheap for the $20 fee. She finally passed out and we made it out the door the next morning by 5:45 to catch a taxi to the airport.

The flights went well. We had a layover in Atlanta (that's a first!) before making it down to Fort Walton Beach airport. Lux loved the layover because she could practice walking! [she is now a seasoned walker, as of August 22] Chayse walked endlessly with her through the airport while Lux enjoyed cutting off other people around her.

We arrived in Fort Walton Beach and were picked up by my parents and brought back to the beach house. They had to then go back and get Andrew and Jill from their airport and made it back just in time for everyone to say goodnight after a long day of travels!

The next morning we headed off to the beach and enjoyed the time there. Every day we made it to the beach, twice to the pool, as well as the gym a few days. Lux's favorite part of the beach was...you guess it! Walking up and down the waters edge! She is just like her mama and doesn't really like to be in the water, just near enough. We got her in a few times and it ended very quickly!  She was a delight to have at the beach and enjoyed the bumming nature of it all. She lounged on a towel and played with her toys, had some snacks and watched everyone playing.

Lux and Amber got along well. I must say I was mighty jealous of how well Amber sleeps. But in time, in time...[which we are finally doing since she slept about 8 times through the night her first year of life and by the first week after her birthday she was up to 4 nights straight!] They got along with the toys we brought with us, but Lux did get fiesty a few times and would just start screaming and trying to pull the toy away from Amber. Usually she did win out because she was able to crawl away very quickly with whatever toy she wanted. But if force was all it took, Amber won every time. It's fun to see them play together since they are only 7 weeks apart.

The week went by too quickly. We filled our days with the beach, walking around the outlets one day, reading, lounging, having the grandparents babysit and just a relaxing time away from home. The resort was really nice, Sandestin, and I can't wait to go back. We used everything we wanted to and have no regrets from the trip. I am soooo glad we were all able to go and hopefully Ben and Max will be able to come next time around!
