Monday, February 19

Today was a good, good day. Rain was coming down in Saint George, which almost always throws off. I am just used to the sun and sending kids outside, heading to parks, just all things outside around this time of year. But as is the trend, near the end of February we get a cold front and things falling from the sky. With it being a federal holiday and the office is closed...Chayse is home! We head to the gym and then come home and pack for a trip to Cedar! Yes, the big distance of 45 minutes. We told Chayse's family and had mom & dad drive behind us. We found the usual elementary school tucked up a bit off of a road that has a name belonging to the army, and spent the next 90 minutes sledding and playing in the snow.

Lux took a little while to warm up to the fun, with Zane and Zoey getting right into the action. Pippa kept declining a trip down the sled and took the most time to get into the action. That's fine. She's only 1 and on her second time seeing the snow! I am thinking next year we should take the older three to really learn how to snowboard or ski while leaving Pippa to play with some cousins! Zane kept trying to stand up and go down the slope. Near the end of our time, Lux and Ruby began tying their sleds together and giggling the whole time down the hill. I wish this would have happened an hour prior because they were so sad to have to leave once the other kids were done playing! My kids are very lucky to each have a cousin on the Myers' side that will be in the same grade as them. Lux & Ruby are 4 months apart, Oden & Zane are 8 months, Zoey & Vivy are 6 months while Pippa & Gordon are only 3 weeks apart. It might be better that they don't go to the same school, they would have too many inside jokes and have a harder time making friends. Or maybe they would make friends faster?? I guess we won't know since they are not districted for the same elementary schools!

Mom and Dad had a fun time playing with us in the snow as well. They were able to have fun going down the slopes and racing each other. We did pick up a few extra sleds from Big 5 on the way up to Cedar. Too bad they weren't on sale, but I know they will continue to be useful. And having one sled per child is definitely needed so there are less tears while playing. I'll pay full price for no tears and fits. I'll pay double! We did look into tubing in Brian Head and we figured out none of our kids are heavy enough to go down by themselves. That seems like a bit too much work with that being the case. We will have to put more meat on their bones soon!

After we were worn out, we went to get some food before heading home. We also turned Pippa around and she no longer has to turn her neck to see the movie being played. She enjoyed Moana and was sad to come home and have to turn it of! Silly Pips. Then it was time for bath, a snack and the bedtime routine.

Happy President's Day! Hooray for Holidays!
