Thursday December 28; Friday 29th

Today was a regular day. Nothing big. Mom and dad recovered from their sickness and the house is again on the mend! Until about 2 weeks from now, I'm sure. I had the general aches, used my typical meds for nausea and aches, then needed some Tylenol to help things easier. I took my nap, kids played with dad, and later on we headed to Perry's house to play halo. I am just terrible at it. Just terrible. The kids had fun playing with their cousins and we decided to make it a sleepover. It is a love-hate I have with sleepovers.

It sounded wonderful to be able to maybe sleep in until 7 and then not have anyone to take care of for a little bit (except for Pippa) and to rest a little bit more after chemo to hopefully recover faster. So far, with last night, I did wake up after shaking my legs again and making them go a bit numb. That woke me up then, some more aches. But they all went away a few hours after waking up. Right now I'm not sure if this is even flowing together, but so far not the terrible flu feeling I had the first go around. Back to sleepovers. No sleep happens. Julianna was an absolute saint to keep my kids until afternoon and let me get a nap in and try to feel like I accomplished a few things in taking care of the house. I just can't seem to let go of all responsibilities. I don't want to become lazy and sure, this is a great excuse to just have everyone do everything for me, but I just can't. So I like to make sure I do something. Anything. Kitchen cleaning, picking up the office, the play room, just something. I have been so lucky to have Kim and McKell over to help do the real cleaning. But I still want to feel like I am normal and taking care of my family like I always do.

Another thing to mention, my port. Sweet Cathy. I think it's officially called Port-a-Catheter, so Cathy just made sense. We aren't too creative with names when it comes to the kids' toys, so why would Cathy be any different? There she is, before the glue came off. Pretty neat trivia, they use the same glue on Cathy as they do for open heart surgeries. It's some strong stuff! And then about 3 inches north of Cathy is the tubing that goes straight into my vein. Or artery. But it saves my arm veins through everything and just pumps out faster to my body instead of through my arm. I'm happy to have Cathy. She'll be around for maybe 3 years Chayse is guessing? I guess being stage 3, 3 years? I don't know. But she's a sweet pal. Pippa loves to find her and poke her. It's not as irritating as it used to be. I wouldn't say painful because it is not, but it does cause some sensitivity. Sometimes when she leans against my back it feels like I have a little rock stuck there and she is just pushing against it. She is the main one at that level to hit Cathy, so Pippa gets the brunt of it.

Also for Thursday, I got my hair cut again! Karen to the rescue. I absolutely love it!! I would never had the guts to do this if I wasn't forced into it. She did a fabulous job and I am hoping this cut lasts a week or two. That's the dream. Keep my hair through my next chemo round and see how strong my body really is. Sure, there is no correlation whatsoever between keeping your hair and the affect chemo has with my tumor, but sure. I am going to defy odds and not lose my hair for another two weeks. Boo yeah. I am so glad Karen is graciously letting me use her skills and keep me pretty stable with these hair changes. And another note. Julianna made me a nice throne to sit in while playing Halo. I'm pretty terrible. As in lots of suicides and I can promise you I have my sights on the other player, spot on, and then I die. I think my high score was 3. Ehh. Guess I won't earn my millions playing video games.

Friday was a nice morning just helping take care of my Pips. I did pick up Zoey and got her to take an afternoon nap as well. This happened after wound care. Ahhh, wound care. I was so scared for this appointment. It happened after my hair cut at 11, and things went pretty smooth. They showed Chayse how to care for my leaky tumor and what to worry about. The nurses were fabulous! Having to literally heal people all day is just amazing. My case seemed pretty simple, but I was so scared that it would get much worse before things get better with my leak. I just like to keep things sealed up inside the body that are supposed to be there. As you can already tell. But I feel good about wound care and am glad they recommended me to go and get that fixed up. I go back next Friday. Guess this is going to be a regular thing now!

Then about 3 I picked up Zane and Lux. The next three hours were lots of grumpy kids and a few prayers to make it to bathtime and dinner. Oh, the witching hours with tired kids. But we made it. We got them to bed. And hip hip hooray they went to sleep pretty easily! Yay for Friday nights. So we turned on some Netflix and had a nice peaceful evening with me heading off to bed about 9:30 because I waited until it was time to take my next anti-nausea meds because heaven knows having nausea is no fun. And I'm a sissy. That's all for this post!
